Despite being a capital city the lifestyle is affordable and most of our teachers live right in the centre. Accommodation in a share flat in a decent central area costs around 400€ a month. A night out for tapas and wine is around 15-20€. A taxi ride from the north to the south barely extends 20€. Its excellent yet cheap transport system makes life easy and comfortable.

Surrounded by natural landscapes and world famous historical places Madrid hosts many of the most important art collections in the world. The warm weather promotes an outdoor lifestyle for those who are sportily inclined to those who prefer a leisurely walk through the famous Retiro Park or those who simply prefer to relax and enjoy a glass of wine in good company in one of the many street cafes or terraces around the city.

Crime is lower than many other large European cities and may people comment on how safe it feels to walk around – beware of pickpockets though – they are very deft? But violence is rarely used.
